Until recently moving away, Cliff Evans was an important and beloved part of The Creative Center community for many years. Cliff’s art shows his meditative and repetitive process in the strong circular strokes that make up fields of rich color. He is careful with which colors blend together in these circular strokes, and which colors do not. Many of his pieces combine fields of different colors across a horizon line that suggest to the viewer an expansive landscape. These horizons and fields of color become all-the-more interesting when it is revealed that Cliff Evans is almost completely blind. Now the viewer must consider, is this how Cliff sees the world around him? Are these memories from past years with clearer vision? And what would it be like to experience creating a piece like this without the ability to see?
